SYMPTOMS

TESTOSTERONE
REPLACEMENT THERAPY

Low levels of testosterone, a natural hormone produced in the body, can lead to hair loss, weight gain, a decrease in sex drive (libido), and many other unwanted side effects. Testosterone can be restored with prescribed treatments, starting with a simple physical exam. We use the most advanced medical technologies along with 30+ years of experience in men’s health to bring testosterone levels to their peak.

SYMPTOMS OF LOW
TESTOSTERONE

Testosterone plays a key role in a man’s libido (sex drive). This is only the interest in and desire for sex, not performance. A dramatic drop in libido may be a sign of low T levels, no matter the age of the individual.

* These symptoms are not specific to low testosterone; please see our doctors for accurate medical diagnosis.

Testosterone production naturally declines with age but a lot of other factors can cause testosterone levels to drop. Our doctors can determine the correct cause(s) of your low-T symptom(s).

* Disclaimer: These are a few of the many possible causes
of low testosterone levels.

TAKE
THE LOW T QUIZ

Use our questionnaire to answer simple questions about your health. This is an easy way to determine if you need your testosterone level checked. A positive result does not necessarily mean you have low testosterone levels or require treatment but can be a helpful guide in discussion with our doctors.

TREATMENT
OPTIONS

Implant therapy

Implanting pellets in the soft tissue/fat of the lower back or buttocks. The pellets release a steady stream of testosterone that lasts for 5-6 months. Very convenient for frequent overseas travelers or someone with a busy schedule.

Testosterone Injections

Injecting testosterone into the body using a syringe just once or twice a week. This is the most common and effective treatment and allows for the readjustment of dosage. It is possible to self-inject at home with a doctor’s approval.

Topical therapy

A solution for skin application – dries within a few minutes. Testosterone releases into the bloodstream over a 24-hour period. Will need to be removed and reapplied to avoid medicine coming in contact with others.

Medication

Pills that increases testosterone production in men and also improves fertility.

Many men are uncomfortable mentioning to their friends, family, or doctors any issues related to urology or sexual well-being. Not talking about it won't make it go away. Here are some questions regarding sensitive health issues men should be willing to ask their doctors.

What can the doctor ask me about?

  • Any previous disease;
  • Any previous relevant operations which can influence your testosterone production;
  • Any risk factors such as systemic diseases and certain types of medication;
  • Your lifestyle including exercise, diet, stress and alcohol consumption;
  • Your ability to maintain an erection;
  • The occurrence of morning erections;
  • Your sexual satisfaction;
  • The amount of ejaculate;
  • The frequency of sexual intercourse or masturbation;

The doctor may also check the body hair pattern, muscle mass and strength, and the hardness and size of your testicles. Your doctor may want to determine your blood testosterone level more accurately. For this, you will need to give a small amount of blood to be sent off to a laboratory for analysis.

How do our doctors diagnose low testosterone in men?

The doctor may also check the body hair pattern, muscle mass and strength, and the hardness and size of your testicles. Your doctor may want to determine your blood testosterone level more accurately. For this, you will need to give a small amount of blood to be sent off to a laboratory for analysis.

“If you listen to the patient, they will tell you what is wrong”. This is a very old saying from the earliest days of medicine. Unfortunately, many primary care physicians do not have the same specific knowledge and training on matters of men’s health as our doctors. As a result, they lack the right questions to ask and the tests to perform. At Innovative Men’s Health, we take matters of male’s sexual and physical health at the utmost importance.

What is the difference between libido and sexual performance?

Libido is simply your interest in sex, not performance. Sexual performance refers to the ability to have and sustain erections and the ability to achieve orgasm.

04/10

What are the benefits of testosterone injections?

The effectiveness of testosterone injections has been proven in several studies and more than 50 years of experience. The treatment can considerably improve mental and physical well-being and performance in men with testosterone deficiency and associated symptoms. Many patients report positive effects on general mood, self-esteem, and vitality. Body shape and proportions become more ideal. Muscle mass and muscle strength increase, whereas fat decreases. Long term effects of testosterone deficiency (such as osteoporosis) can be prevented. Testosterone treatment leads to a marked improvement in sexual desire, erections, and sexual health.

05/10

Can all men benefit from testosterone treatment?

No. Only men with testosterone deficiency and related symptoms will notice improvements in their general health and well-being from testosterone treatment.

06/10

Are there any side effects of testosterone injections?

Any medical treatment can have side effects. Regular monitoring is essential while testosterone treatment is taking place. However, many years of experience with testosterone preparations have shown that the treatment is generally well-tolerated and effective.

The following possible side effects do not occur in every patient. It should also be taken into account that the different preparations and application forms (injection, implants, gel, pills) can vary in their effectiveness and side effects.

Occasional mild acne - Testosterone stimulates oil supply, called sebum, to the skin which can result in acne. This is almost always a passing phase at the beginning of treatment and usually normalizes by itself.

Painful erections - Only in rare cases. The dosage will be reduced or discontinued to avoid permanent damage.

High red blood cell counts - If there is an increase in the production of red blood cells, circulation may be affected due to high blood viscosity. Treatment will be discontinued until blood cell production normalizes.

Fatty tissue - High doses of testosterone or doses over long periods can increase the tendency to retain water in the tissues (edema) and can affect the breakdown of fat by the body.

Your doctor will regularly monitor the progress of your treatment and check for any side effects. If you experience any discomfort or inconveniences during treatment, please report it to your doctor as soon as possible.

07/10

Is it safe to be on TRT and take drugs for Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?

Yes. Some studies even suggest that testosterone treatment received in combination with ED medication may improve how your ED drug works. However, discuss this with your doctor before combining therapies.

08/10

Does testosterone deficiency affect the size of my penis?

No. Testosterone deficiency does not have any effect on penis size. However, it can have a negative effect on sexual performance, libido, and erectile function.

09/10

Does declining testosterone levels make me less of a man?

No. All men suffer declining testosterone levels with age. How quickly the levels decline depends on various factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and predisposed medical conditions.

10/10

What is the difference between Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and performance-enhancing steroids (anabolic)?

Testosterone replacement therapy is aimed to normalize low levels of testosterone and reduce symptoms of low T. Medical treatment of testosterone deficiency does not lead to anabolic overdosing or dependence.

The difference is that doses used in testosterone replacement only achieve physiologic (natural) levels of the hormone in the blood. Testosterone forms some athletes have used illegally are in much higher doses and often combined ("stacked") with many other substances that boost the overall muscle-building (anabolic) effect.
Non-medical use of anabolic steroids can lead to serious side-effects and severe health problems.
